Mission
The Palestinian Institute for Climate Strategy (PICS) is dedicated to advancing eco-sumud, integrating ecological resilience and steadfastness with strategies to confront the challenges of ecocide, apartheid, and colonialism in Palestine. Rooted in Indigenous knowledge and cultural values, PICS drives impactful local engagement in Palestine while building coalitions centering the Global South to advocate for climate justice and human rights. Through innovative research, movement-building, and legal and policy advocacy, PICS empowers communities to sustain their attachment to the land, resist systems of oppression, and promote a just transition for a liberated and sustainable future.
Vision
A just, equitable, and sustainable future for Palestine and the Global South, where communities thrive through environmental stewardship, systemic oppression is dismantled, and ecological justice paves the way for collective liberation.
Values
As times goes on, our projects and influences might change, but we remain adherent to four core principles that steer and guide our work and strategy. These values revolve around basic humanitarian, ecological, and apolitical principles that demand the basic prerequisites for justice and peace on Palestinian land for Palestinians. 

Justice and ‘Awda

We uphold justice and freedom for Palestinians, rooted in the right of return, national sovereignty, and human dignity. Our pursuit of ‘awda (return) underscores the fundamental rights of dispossessed communities to return to their lands and live in peace.

Climate Action as Liberation

We view climate action as inseparable from the struggle for sovereignty. By cultivating community-driven solutions and advocating ecological restoration, PICS positions Palestine as a beacon for decolonized climate justice—where environmental protection and liberation go hand in hand.

Ecological Resilience

We fight against ecocide and the systematic destruction of Palestinian ecosystems—working to preserve biodiversity, restore habitats, and protect cultural heritage. PICS champions environmental stewardship as a vehicle for long-term sustainability and community well-being. the Palestinian concept of sumud—steadfast resilience in the face of adversity, resonates with PICS' eco-sumud - a guiding principle, uniting ecological protection with collective perseverance.

Global Solidarity

Through alliances at both local and global levels, we stand united against genocide, environmental injustice, and colonial violence. We believe in the transformative power of transnational coalitions, mobilizing the Global South and international partners to ensure Palestine’s climate and human rights agenda is recognized worldwide.
